1 – What is a border run?
A visa run or border run is a brief trip out of the country and back in order to restart the clock” on one’s allowed period of stay, where it would otherwise have expired.
It is a common practice among travelers and expatriates who wish to stay in a particular country for an extended period but are limited by the duration of their visa. By leaving the country and returning, these individuals can often obtain a new visa or an extension.

3 – Why Lao Bao land border?
Lao Bao land border, situated in Quang Tri province, is the largest land border in the middle of Vietnam. This strategic border connects with DenSavanh border in Laos, fostering international connectivity. The distance from Lao Bao land border to major cities is as follows: 250 kilometers from Danang, 280 kilometers from Hoian, and 200 kilometers from Hue.
The efficient route is the expressway, covering two-thirds of the distance. Along this route, travelers will traverse the picturesque Bach Ma National Park, known for its breathtaking beauty. Additionally, the journey offers glimpses of other scenic sites in Hue province and Quang Tri province, providing a delightful travel experience with diverse landscapes and cultural attractions.
In addition to the notable aspects of the Lao Bao land border crossing mentioned earlier, it’s worth highlighting the streamlined visa processes that contribute to the ease of travel through this border. The efficiency of visa procedures at Lao Bao is attributed to the professionalism of border controllers. Notably, Laos facilitates a convenient visa on arrival service for a majority of passport holders, simplifying the entry process for international travelers. This expeditious visa arrangement further by Lynn’s Border Run Service Team enhances the overall travel experience for those crossing the Lao Bao land border with the service.
1 – Passport
Your passport should have at least one empty page available for visa stamps. This is essential for immigration officials to endorse your entry or exit.
Ensure that none of the pages in your passport are ripped, clipped, or have holes. A damaged passport may lead to complications during the inspection process, and officials may require a passport in pristine condition.
2 – Current Visa Expiration
It is imperative that your current visa or entry stamp remains valid up to the day of the border crossing. In simpler terms, you cannot cross the border with an expired visa or entry stamp.
It is crucial to communicate with Lynn’s Border Run Service team well in advance, ensuring that you won’t experience any uncomfortable situations.
3 – Vietnam Evisa and Visa on arrival
Kindly be aware that it is mandatory to obtain a Vietnam e-visa in advance before crossing the border. In the event that your e-visa is still in the processing stage or if you identify any errors in your eVisa, entry into Vietnam will not be permitted. It is crucial to ensure that your e-visa is fully processed and error-free prior to your border crossing.
Visa On Arrival, both for business and tourist visas, is available at the land border of Lao Bao. However, it is important to note that you must obtain a visa letter in advance to facilitate this process. The visa letter serves as a pre-approval document, and without it, the Visa On Arrival option is not possible.
The advantage of the visa letter process is its quicker turnaround compared to the e-visa application. This makes it a viable alternative solution for individuals who wish to enter Vietnam promptly and do not want to wait outside the country for the e-visa processing period.
4 – Visa Exemption
If you are eligible for or intend to apply for visa exemption, you can proceed with your border crossing without the need for an e-visa or visa letter.
5 – Laos Visa
Laos visa on arrival is accessible for citizens of most countries around the world, making it a convenient option for international travelers. However, it’s worth noting that citizens from a few countries are required to obtain a visa in advance to enter Laos.
